Research is the most overrated EC for MD application. Pursue something you are passionate about and can talk about it in length. It depends on where you’re applying. If you’re very strong in volunteering hours then you could do really well if you have mostly schools that are service heavy schools (GT, VCU, Rush, etc.).

I would recommend starting with your school's prereqs. Definitely go in taking chemistry and lab, and maybe also biology.
